In this episode, we chat with Lauren Moran about their work engaging communities through art.
Lauren Moran creates interdisciplinary projects that are often participatory, collaborative and co-authored. They aim to experiment with and question the systems we are all embedded in by organizing situations of connection, openness and nonhierarchical learning. Lauren desires to develop sites for accessibility, and reimagined ways of being together. They are a member of Public Annex, and perform as soft fantasy. A graduate of the Art and Social Practice MFA program at Portland State University, Lauren is currently the Artist in Residence at UMass Dartmouth.
They have recently presented work at the Arlene Schnitzer Visual Art Prize at Portland State University, as the artist in residence for the Portland Bureau of Transportation, Portland Art Museum (Portland, OR), Greensboro Project Space (Greensboro NC), Abteilung für Alles Andere (Berlin Germany), Art in Odd Places (New York, NY), Disjecta (Portland, OR), Port City Gallery (Portland, OR), and the El Paso Museum of Art (El Paso, TX).
